Craig Jones
Craig Jones, a local Alabamian, spends much of his free time searching for the big one. Craig hit the big one the summer of 2000 with this 202 lb., 7'5" long female alligator gar from Texas. Craig and his father, Larry Jones, were fishing the Trinity River, TX (near Nachadoces, TX) for gar when he bagged this trophy on May 7, 2000. Larry landed a 140 lb. 6'9" and 120 lb. 6'5" from the same river on May 5, 2000. Craig also shot a 115 lb. 6'3" alligator gar on May 6, 2000. Craig's preferred method of locating gar is by simply riding around and looking for them. He modified his boat for bowfishing by adding a shooting platform, railing and lights. Craig maneuvers his boat with an outboard motor and trolling motor. Unlike many other anglers, he does not use a fan. Recently, Craig's wife Barbara began bow angling for gar. Barbara Jones shot her first alligator gar (50 lbs.) on September 5, 2000. Craig is a member of the International Bowfishing Association, Inc. and the Heart of Dixie Bowfishers of Alabama.
