Govt Payments

Government support includes not only extension but also payments. The first button goes to a paper by James T. Ryan of the USDA Economic Research Service (ERS) entitled Direct Government Payment and Land Values in the South. This paper was already referenced in the page on Land Values but is worth repeating here for people who did not see it there. The second button goes to 1 slide showing the effects on payments on farm income for farms of various sizes. Note that most payments go to small farms, and they still have more of a loss than a profit. Large farms make a profit but still receive payments.
