Mission:

Alabama is a state with a great diversity of people, natural regions and species.  However, this diversity is currently threatened, but citizens have the opportunity and responsibility to restore, preserve and save it for future generations.  SAFE affirms that all people have the right to live free from ecological degradation and destruction.  SAFE promotes the ethical, responsible, and sustainable use of our unique ecological heritage in order to preserve public health , maintain species diversity, and further environmental justice and protection.

Specific Issues:

Opposition to incineration of chemical weapons and promotion of alternative methods of destruction. Currently working with Friends of Terrapin Creek to stop the development of a gold mine. Currently working with the Coosa River Basin Initiative to help stop PCB contamination.
