"Common Trees of Alabama" Poster to Educate Alabama Citizens
Now that spring has sprung, trees around the state are showing off their new leaves and new growth. To help educate Alabama citizens about the importance of trees to the state, Legacy, Partners in Environmental Education, and the Alabama Forestry Association have developed the "Common Trees of Alabama" poster.
The poster features 12 common trees found within the state. A photograph of each of the trees is featured on the poster along with their most likely locations in the state. Each photograph also has a description of the tree, which includes tree identification, bark types, fall colors, seeds and fruits, plant care, tree health and flowers.
"This is an excellent tool for students, teachers and Alabama citizens to learn about many of the common trees found within the state," says Brian Key, Legacy's public outreach coordinator.
Legacy is a not-for-profit organization working to create environmentally responsible Alabama citizens through education. Legacy's environmental education programs are made possible through the sale of the "Protect Our Environment" license tag, corporate and individual sponsorships and fund-raising events.
