William Allen Carey

William Allen Carey, 56, of Auburn died April 22 in Columbus, Ga., as the result of an automobile accident. Carey earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Florida and his Ph.D. at Duke University. He was a research plant pathologist with the AU School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bill Carey Memorial Fund, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, 108 M. Faye Eason Buttram Lawrence

Faye Eason Buttram Lawrence, 81, passed away at her home in Auburn on June 9. Lawrence was an instructor in the Department of Zoology-Entomology at Auburn University for 28 years, retiring in 1989 as the coordinator of the biology program. Norton Little Marshall

Norton Little Marshall, 77, of Auburn died April 20 in Columbus, Ga. Norton held a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University, a master's degree from the University of Maryland and the Ph.D. from The University of Maryland. He taught botany at Auburn University, where he also collaborated on a textbook. Clarence Edwin Scarsbrook

Clarence Edwin Scarsbrook passed away in Hillsborough, N.C., on July 6. Scarsbrook was a professor emeritus of agronomy and soils where he taught soil physics, soil chemistry and philosophy of science, in addition to his research area of soil nitrogen. He joined the department in 1953 as Associate Soil Chemist and served in many other capacities until his retirement in 1978. Donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 143 E. James Gywnn Starling

James Gwynn Starling, 81, of Headland died Aug. 8. Starling worked at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center in Headland from 1948 until he retired as superintendent in 1985. Donald LeRoy Thurlow
