Hardy Named Associate Dean in AU School of Agriculture

AUBURN, Ala.—Bill Hardy, a professor of agricultural economics at Auburn University, has been named interim associate dean of instruction in AU's College of Agriculture, according to an announcement by Luther Waters, dean of the College.

Hardy, who has been an award winning teacher and researcher at Auburn since joining the AU faculty as an assistant professor in 1972, is a former coordinator of the AU Teaching Enhancement Program.

"We are fortunate to have a person of Bill Hardy's experience, integrity and energy working with our students. Though we have strong research and extension components in the College of Agriculture, students are our first priority and Bill Hardy will do a great job of heading our academic programs," commented Dean Waters.

Hardy holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D degrees in agricultural economics from Virginia Tech. In 1997, he graduated cum laude from the Jones Law School and was admitted to the Alabama Bar Association in May of 1998.

A former Professor of the Decade in the College of Agriculture, Hardy has twice won Teacher of the Year and Dean's Awards for his teaching excellence. He has served as president of Gamma Sigma Delta agriculture service fraternity and is a member of Sigma Xi, the research honorary, and Alpha Zeta agriculture honorary.
