AUBURN, Ala.— Clifford Flood, Jr., associate professor and chair of the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Auburn University (AU), recently was named a fellow in the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE).
Flood joined the Auburn faculty in 1971 and is an award winning educator and a recognized authority on solar power for livestock and poultry facilities. In addition, he has worked extensively on measuring the equilibrium moisture qualities of agricultural materials. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including being named Distinguished Agricultural Engineer by the Alabama Section of ASAE, numerous "Who's Who" listings and three Outstanding Engineering Teaching Awards from Auburn.
An active member of ASAE for more than 38 years, Flood has served in leadership positions within the Society. He has served on countless ASAE publications-related committees and presently is vice chair of the ASAE's Publications Council. He also is a member of the American Society of Engineering Education, Council for Agricultural Science and Technology and Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society. He earned his degrees from the University of Florida, University of Kentucky and Purdue University.
The American Society of Agricultural Engineers is a 9,000-member professional and technical organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food and biological systems.
To be considered as a candidate for ASAE fellow, a nominee must demonstrate unusual professional distinction, with outstanding qualifications and experience in the field of agricultural engineering. Other requirements include 20 years or more in the profession or teaching of engineering and 20 or more as and ASAE member. Only about two percent of the active ASAE members are eligible to be a fellow.
