Taste of Alabama, Fall Roundup Planned for Homecoming Weekend

AUBURN, Ala. — The 26th annual Auburn University Taste of Alabama Agriculture and Fall Roundup will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 9 a.m. at the AU College of Agriculture’s Ag Heritage Park.

Billed as the season's biggest tailgate party, the event draws more than 1,500 people each year and features a wide range of food items—both traditional and exotic—that are grown or processed in Alabama. Among the taste delights that may be found at this year’s Taste of Alabama Agriculture are blue and orange potatoes, collard greens, catfish, chicken, pork, beef, lamb, goat, satsuma oranges, kiwi, pecans, peanuts and many other delicacies.

The event includes auctions, musical entertainment, visits from Aubie and the AU Cheerleaders and much more. Exhibits from academic departments, student organizations and commodity or agribusiness groups will be on display. Included among the displays will be a miniature syrup mill and cotton gin and Old Nancy, an antique steam tractor. A special children's section will feature a petting zoo, pumpkin painting and face painting.

A highlight of the morning will be the auctions, both live and silent, the proceeds from which go to fund much-needed scholarship support for deserving students in the College of Agriculture.

The taste and roundup will last from 9 a.m. until one hour before kickoff of AU’s homecoming game against Western Kentucky. Admission is $5, with children under 6 admitted free.
