AUBURN, Ala.—High-school sophomores and juniors are invited to the Auburn University campus Friday, July 23, for a fast-paced, one-day science program introducing them to the diverse fields of study available in Auburn’s College of Agriculture.
The program, “Discover Your World: Auburn Edition,” will kick off at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up at 4:30 p.m., and in between those hours, students will have the chance to participate in two of the six hands-on workshops lined up for the day—workshops that could have them tromping through forests, standing on pond banks, cooking in a state-of-the-art kitchen, connecting with vets and pets or even checking out the turf at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
A $30 registration fee covers workshop materials, breakfast and lunch, with a T-shirt thrown in for good measure. The deadline for reserving a spot in the event is July 9.
Parents who accompany their teens to Auburn can get in on the action, too, by registering for a parents’ program that will include morning workshops packed with information about Auburn admissions, scholarships, financial aid and housing, and a hands-on afternoon gardening and landscaping workshop be led by the College of Ag’s Department of Horticulture. Registration is $10, with the same July 9 deadline.
