Purpose: The College of Agriculture established the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence to recognize and reward the great efforts faculty members take in teaching meaningful, useful and relevant information to our students in innovative ways that best prepare students for their chosen careers.
The Awards: The Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence will be made annually to an individual winner. The award includes: (1) a check for $2,000, (2) a personalized plaque and (3) a notation on a composite plaque permanently displayed in Comer Hall.
Eligibility: All tenured and tenure-track faculty with regular teaching responsibilities are eligible. Department Heads/Chairs, the Dean and Associate Deans are not eligible. Recipients of this award will not be eligible for this award for the next two years, but will become eligible again after two years.
Criteria for Evaluation of the Award: The recipient of the award will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and service to our students in a manner that exceeds normal expectations for assigned teaching duties. Innovative approaches to teaching and examples of dedicated efforts are expected of the selected award winner.
Nominations: The following information should be provided for each candidate who is nominated.
Completed nomination packets will be reviewed by the Curriculum Committee with a recommendation from the committee made to the Dean. The Dean will have the final approval.
Presentation of Award: The award will be presented at the annual awards recognition reception.Last Updated: October 12, 2014
